"I Dont Care About You" Director: Matt Lenski VFX: Lifelong Friendship Society
http://www.lifelongfriendshipsociety.com/friend_em/GBC_final.mov
Brooklyn, NY - March 3, 2010 - LA based hip hoppers on the rise: Get Busy Committee (GBC), Epoch Films director Matt Lenski and the minds of Lifelong Friendship Society (LFS) recently locked arms on the video for the bands new single, "I Don't Care About You".
GBC, formed by long time friends Ryu (of Styles of Beyond and Fort Minor), Apathy (of Army of The Pharoahs) and Scoop Deville (recently known for producing tracks for Snoop Dogg and Fat Joe, and the son of Latino Rap pioneer Kid Frost), decided to head East to shoot the video from their album "Uzi Does It".
All production, editorial and vfx took place at LFS in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. "The band was shot on the green-screen insert stage we have in our studio and the entire day went 100% according to plan, it was an ideal production coordinated by ourselves and Epoch." says LFS Producer Bridgette Spalding.
Editorial began quickly after in LFS' Final Cut suite while their team of designers and animators simulataneously created insane elements to be composited in Adobe After Effects. Once the cut was locked - crunch time began for LFS; around the clock animation, compositing and rendering in order to ship in time for Valentine's Day.
This was the first time Lenski and the Friendship Society worked together. The combination of his vivid ideas and LFS' killer aesthetic proved they can clearly deliver quite the creation.
His message was clear to LFS' army of artists, "Imagine the ultimate Hip Hop Video with all of it’s inherent swagger– Cash, Jewelry, Gangsters, Girls, Cars, Champagne...albeit achieved through animated gifs and Myspace styled glitter graphics. On one level it's going to be a performance driven Hip Hop video. But it is also sort of a big E-card to ex-girlfriends, just rather than animated kittens meowing a love letter, our video is an E-greeting stamped with 'I Don’t Care About You'." Lenski challenges, "I ask you: What has more shine than a Glitter Gif? What has more bling than a Blingee, sir? What, indeed?"
This jocular spirit maintained from start to finish, perhaps not noticing the late nights they were experiencing, the entire crew shared laughs the entire time. "Even our serious production meetings were hilarious" Spalding shares, "as we would watch and try to figure out where we could add more scantily clad gif girls or how to clevery hide meth paraphernalia.'
The video is intended for the web, but a censored version is in the works for kids everywhere.
